My name is Les Lawrence. I am, as Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirate King said, a single gentleman, and I live in the Wilmington, Delaware area.
Dementia: The Path Beyond The Tears is about my journey – my journey of learning to understand, as best I can understand, and to deal with, dementia. And of learning how I can best help my friend of thirty-three years.
I’m not trying to persuade myself – or anybody else – that I’m a broad authority or resource on dementia. That’s not my intent, really, nor my focus. So I may explore events and experiences that don’t necessarily connect directly with dementia.
And even though I’m the one “talking” here, this is about our journey.
The path will be perilous. But I can only do the best I am able to with what I have. Insofar as there are “Two roads” diverging in this “yellow wood,” I will take the the road where I do the best I can for myself, and for my friend.
